Startup Leadership Program
SLP is a 6-month program that attracts outstanding first-time and future Startup CEOs in their mid-20s to mid-30s from diverse backgrounds with a history of achievement or expertise, and the potential to be a successful startup CEO. Through hands-on workshops, ideation sessions, and intimate speaker series, and one-on-one mentoring, the Fellows learn the hard and soft skills of entrepreneurship: reading a term sheet, preparing business plans, crafting elevator pitches and investor presentations, the critical skills of networking, negotiations, managing investors, boards and leading team members. Startup Leadership Program (SLP) was founded in 2006 by Anupendra Sharma (Partner, Siemens Venture Capital) and Puran Dang (Founder, Minuteman Group).
You'll never walk alone...and what the SLP Logo Means
This is the motto of Liverpool Football Club. While we may not be Liverpool supporters, we believe in the idea that entrepreneurship is a tough, lonely road, and we don’t want you to walk this road alone. The SLP logo actually represents skydivers, diving out of a plane, joining hands to form a globe. We think of entrepreneurs as calculated risk-taking skydivers, who hope their parachutes will open, and really do this because of the love of the sport. By creating a global network, we think that you will be able to find others like you, and together you will be able to do amazing things that are simply not possible to do it alone. And if your parachute fails to open, you’ll have someone in the Program to help you get to solid ground, safely.
The influence of John Wood, Author of "Why I left Microsoft to change the world"
You will get a sense throughout the Program that SLP is your program, that you own it, you can influence it, and in your hands rest the opportunities to educate, inform and inspire not just those in your class, but hundreds of Fellows around the world. Our Program has been built through small and big innovations by Fellows, who were seeking solutions to their problems. John Wood brought books to a village in Nepal, and the villagers built the school. The school was successful because the villagers built it. By creating an environment where everyone contributes, feels a sense of ownership and belonging, leads to a richer, more vibrant community.
